Shirarahama

7 minutes drive from Kachofugetsu

Quartz sand, which contains 90% silicic acid, is fine, white sand that used as the raw material for glass. It is one of the symbols of Shirahama and is the basis of the name "Shirahama Onsen.” The 620 meter-long shallow beach is one of the most popular beaches in Kansai in the summer and is a sister beach to Waikiki Beach in Hawaii.

Senjojiki

10 minutes drive from Kachofugetsu

As its name suggests, a large-scale rock formation that resembles tatami mats. The slope-shaped rock that juts out toward the Pacific Ocean is a large rock made up of the tertiary sandstone. It offers a spectacular view of rough waves dashing upon the rock. There is free car and bus parking and a souvenir shop/restaurant in one corner of the car park.

Sandanheki

10 minutes drive from Kachofugetsu

If you walk along Senjojiki, the beach is about 600 meters away, but in contrast to Senjojiki, the cliff stands 50 to 60 meters high. The Kuroshio Current waves dashing against the rocks on this wall is a dynamic sight. The "Sandanheki Cave" on the cliff is an underground cave that stretches 36 meters down from the ground and can be accessed by elevator (24 seconds ride). Experience the mystical cave world where Bentaiten is enshrined. In April 2016, it was selected as the sacred ground of lovers “Nanki Shirahama / Sandanheki.”

Shirahama Energy Land

6 minutes drive from Kachofugetsu

This action theme park is based on the energy of people and nature. There are many educational attractions that make it fun to learn, such as the “City of the Sun" where you can learn about natural energy through images and dioramas, “Mystery Zone" where you cannot walk straight due to the effect optical illusions and equilibrium, "Trick Art House" where you can take interesting magical photos, and a huge maze and 3D image. Toretore Market

10 minutes drive from Kachofugetsu

This is one of the largest seafood markets in western Japan. You can enjoy fresh fish from all over Japan as well as local Wakayama fish right there and shop for souvenirs from Wakayama. The highlight is the tuna carving show.
